Overnight Storms Drop 1 to 2 Inches of Rain Across Parts of Collin County With Radar Estimates Near 3 Inches Between Weston and Melissa

Collin County, Texas – The overnight disturbance that pushed through North Texas left behind some impressive rainfall totals across parts of Collin County. Many areas picked up 1 to 2 inches of rain, while the heaviest rain focused on the corridor from Weston to Anna and Melissa, where radar estimates came in close to 3 inches.

Highest Totals Near Weston, Anna, and Melissa

The highest rain totals were concentrated in northern Collin County. Radar estimates showed a bullseye of heavy rain between Weston, Anna, and Melissa, with one spot estimated at about 2.76 inches. This area sat directly under the strongest storms early Monday morning as they moved east-southeast across the region.

Other Areas Also Picked Up Good Rain

Beyond the heaviest band, several other communities saw beneficial rainfall. Areas northeast of McKinney and toward Blue Ridge recorded solid totals, with pockets of heavier rain scattered across eastern Collin County. Parts of Van Alstyne and areas near Gunter also saw measurable rain.

Farther south and west, totals dropped off quickly. Much of Frisco, Allen, Plano, and Garland saw little to no rain, showing just how narrow and isolated the heavy rain band was.

Storms Moved Through Quickly

The rain came from a line of storms that tracked east-southeast through Grayson and Collin Counties during the early morning hours. The storms brought brief heavy downpours and some lightning before moving out of the area.

Watch for Standing Water

With up to nearly 3 inches falling in a short amount of time in some areas, residents may notice standing water in low-lying spots, ditches, and poor drainage areas. Drivers should use caution on rural roads and avoid any water-covered roadways, especially in northern Collin County.

Welcome Rain for the Area

The rain will be welcome for lawns, gardens, and local farmland, giving parts of North Texas a much-needed soaking after a warm and mostly dry stretch.
