North Carolina Enjoys a Picture-Perfect Monday With Sunny Skies, Low Humidity, and Highs in the 70s and Low 80s Across the State

Monday is bringing an A+ forecast for much of the state, with mostly sunny skies, a cooler start, and afternoon highs climbing into the 70s and low 80s. With no rain expected and low humidity in place, it is the kind of day that makes people want to spend every possible minute outdoors, and maybe even think about calling in “sick” to work.
A Cool and Comfortable Start
The day began on a refreshing note across the state, with cooler morning temperatures giving way to plenty of sunshine. Many residents stepping out early noticed a crisp, comfortable feel in the air, perfect for morning walks, jogs, and coffee on the porch.
As the sun climbs, temperatures will warm steadily through the afternoon, but the dry air will keep things feeling pleasant rather than sticky.
Warmest Temperatures in Southeastern North Carolina
The warmest spots on Monday will be found across the southeastern part of the state. Clinton, St. Pauls, Lumberton, and Whiteville are expected to reach around 83 degrees. Pinehurst, Fayetteville, Goldsboro, Kinston, and Wallace should top out near 82, while Laurinburg, Sanford, Troy, and Clayton are forecast to reach about 81 degrees. The Wilmington area should also warm into the low 80s.
Piedmont Highs Near 80
Across the Piedmont, highs will mostly land in the upper 70s to around 80 degrees. Charlotte, Monroe, Mooresville, Raleigh, and Rocky Mount are expected to hit about 80 degrees. Greensboro, Durham, Asheboro, Statesville, and Hickory should reach the upper 70s, while Winston-Salem, Oxford, and Roanoke Rapids will be near 78. Farther north, Mount Airy, Danbury, Roxboro, and Norlina are expected to reach around 77 degrees.
Cooler Air Holds in the Mountains
The North Carolina mountains will once again be the coolest part of the state. Higher elevation spots will stay in the upper 60s to low 70s, with Todd near 67 degrees, Boone in the upper 60s, and Sparta and Banner Elk around 70. Highlands is expected to reach about 69, while Cashiers comes in near 70 and Brevard near 71. Spruce Pine should top out around 72 degrees.
Lower valleys will be warmer. Asheville is forecast to reach about 76 degrees, Hot Springs near 77, and Marion, Sylva, and Cherokee around 79. In the far southwestern corner of the state, Murphy and Robbinsville could warm to about 80 degrees.
Pleasant Conditions Along the Coast
Beach communities will enjoy beautiful weather with highs mostly in the mid to upper 70s. Corolla is expected to reach around 74 degrees, while Manteo, Avon, and Morehead City should be near 76. Hatteras and Ocracoke will reach about 77 degrees. Along the southern coast, Surf City will be near 78, Emerald Isle and Ocean Isle around 79, and Calabash, Southport, and Bald Head Island near 80 degrees.
Inland from the coast, Jacksonville and New Bern are expected to reach around 80, while Greenville, Plymouth, and Belhaven land near 79.
Light Winds and Tranquil Weather
Winds will be light, coming from the west at 5 to 15 mph. Combined with sunshine and dry air, this will make for tranquil weather statewide. It is a stark contrast to the stormy conditions affecting parts of the Northeast, and a welcome break for anyone with outdoor plans.
A Great Day to Get Outside
With conditions this good, Monday is a perfect day for outdoor activities. Hiking in the mountains, a round of golf, yard work, a picnic lunch, or an evening stroll are all great options. The low humidity will also make it a good day to open the windows and let some fresh air into the house.
