LIBERTY TWP. — Celina Blount had a game-high 15 points and four blocks and Emma Fohl chipped in with 11 points in Lakota East’s 38-37 season-opening loss to Springboro on Wednesday night.
The Thunderhawks (0-1) outscored the Panthers (1-0) in the second quarter, 17-4, to take a 19-15 halftime lead. Springboro won the third quarter 11-6, and the Panthers’ Bryn Martin hit a 3-pointer with 5 seconds left to play to win it.
Martin finished with 12 points, while Aniya Trent (10 points, eight rebounds) and Carly Turman (10 points) also contributed for the Panthers.
Mike Holweger got his first win as Springboro’s coach.
