5 THINGS TO KNOW: Sunday, April 4

1 Ross softball is off to a 3-0 start after grabbing wins against Badin, Franklin County and Taylor. Leading the way offensively for the Rams are senior Ashley Shelton and freshman Myrissa Combs, who each have seven hits apiece. “We’ve got a super talented team,” Ross coach Pat Spurlock said. “As a collective group, we’re doing what we need to do to win.”

2 Talawanda softball has won five in a row and sits at 6-1 heading into the beginning of the week. Brave junior Rachel Dsuban leads the way with four home runs and 21 RBIs, which is tops in the Southwest Ohio Conference. Freshman McKenna Weekley has scored 13 runs and she’s also been a force in the pitcher’s circle striking out 45 batters.

3 Hamilton baseball is 3-0 and has outscored its opponents 40-4. Big Blue seniors Maddox Pennington, Jackson Lewis, Micaden Stephens and Devin Fath lead the way offensively all with at least four hits apiece.

4 Cincinnati Christian softball is 3-0 and has outscored its opponents 45-2. Senior Briahna Bush is 10-for-10 at the plate with 5 home runs, 9 runs scored and 22 RBI. She’s also 3-0 in the pitcher’s circle with 45 strike outs.

5 GMC SOFTBALL: Lakota West is 4-0 and led offensively by juniors KK Mathis (10 hits, 12 RBI, 4 HR) and Molly Grace (11 hits, 10 RBI, 11 runs, 2 HR). … Middletown is 5-1 and 11 batters for the Middies are hitting over .500 on the season.
