Monroe Hornets
Justin Clemmons enters his first season as Monroe’s girls basketball.
The Hornets went 8-15 overall and 4-9 in the Southwestern Buckeye League last season.
Returning starters are senior Saffie Weidner, senior Paityn Corthell, sophomore Jordan McComas, sophomore Ryan Buskirk and sophomore Emma Adolph.
McComas (9.3 points) and Weidner (8.3 points) led the charge for Monroe during the 2022-2023 season.
“This team works really hard every single day,” Clemmons said. “We will try to play an up-tempo pace in a motion offensive scheme. Defensively, we will look to play pack-line defense and try to make the other team grind out offensive possessions against us. This team will play together and will have multiple options offensively on a nightly basis.
“We have preached that we are not going to put a number on success or define that in terms of wins and losses,” Clemmons added. “Instead, we are going to focus on the pursuit and getting 1 percent better every day. We can take care of ourselves and control the things we can control then that helps to play into improving our 1 percent every day.”
