2023-2024 Season Snapshot
Madison Mohawks
Shane Richardson is in his fourth season as Madison’s boys basketball coach.
The Mohawks went 11-12 overall and 6-7 in the Southwestern Buckeye League last year.
Returning starters are Jaylin Pendleton (5.1 points, 3.5 rebounds) and Drew Whisman (8.8 points).
“This is the smallest club I’ve had in my tenure, but arguably the deepest,” Richardson said. “We’re working to get more possessions offensively, so we’ve ramped up the pressure to do so. We are deep enough and have the legs to really play the style we’d like. Layups, free’s and 3’s are our motto, and with this club there’s usually five capable shooters on the floor. If I had to describe us, we are a pace and space team — and run a conceptual offense.
“These guys are hungry. Our record has improved every year, and these guys want to win. We expect to compete for a title on our side of the league. We would love to make a run come tournament time, and I believe this club is more than capable.
NOTES — The Mohawks are back to Division III this season. … Lost three starters from last year, but Grady Combs (first team all-league, missed first nine games), Aiden Grooms, Zane Sproat and Kaleb Miller all played starter’s minutes or had a large role in last year’s club.
