2023-2024 Lakota East Thunderhawks — Girls Basketball

2023-2024 Season Snapshot

Lakota East Thunderhawks

Thunderhawks coach Dan Wallace is entering his sixth season at the helm.

Lakota East is coming off its best season in school history after finishing 22-4 and falling to Kings in last year’s Division I regional semifinals.

Returning starters include senior Emma Fohl (eight points, three assists per game), senior Celina Blount and junior Brooke Asher (eight points, two assists per game).

Blount was named the 2022 Greater Miami Conference Defensive Player of the Year.

The Thunderhawks return three experienced starters along with Katyln Pham and Addyson Johnson, who played significant minutes a year ago.

The bench is extremely deep with up-and-coming talent that will make some noise this season — especially on the defensive end.

“This should be the best defensive team we have had at Lakota East in a long time — anchored by shot blocking specialist and College of Charleston commit Celina Blount,” Wallace said.

“After a tremendous season in 2022-2023, this group feels like they can continue to compete with the top teams in the area and the state,” Wallace added. “Having a deep roster and a team that moves the ball and defends as a group, they truly enjoy playing together and competing with everyone they face.”

Fohl and Asher bring experience to the point guard position, and the athleticism off the bench is tremendous, according to Wallace.

“We have put together a tough schedule including not only the always-tough GMC matchups but hosting Springboro and Mount Notre Dame along with games against Badin, Alter and Pickering Central all in the first six games,” Wallace said. “We will be tested early and find out quickly what this team is made of.”
