Not a Drop in Sight: Alabama and the Deep South Stay Bone Dry Through Halloween While Rain Hugs Only Florida’s Atlantic Coast

ALABAMA — The dry spell gripping Alabama and much of the Deep South is not letting up anytime soon. The latest 7-day rainfall outlook shows little to no rain for most of the region through the end of October, with the next meaningful rain likely holding off until early November.

The Forecast Window

The rainfall outlook covers the week ending Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 8 p.m. EDT, based on the Weather Prediction Center forecast issued on October 25.

Where It Stays Dry

The map shows a large blank zone, meaning essentially no measurable rain, across:

  • Alabama
  • Mississippi
  • Georgia
  • South Carolina
  • Inland North Carolina
  • The Florida Panhandle and much of northern Florida

For these areas, the final week of October is expected to pass without any real relief.

Only Light Totals to the West

Farther west, parts of Louisiana and East Texas show only light amounts, mostly around 0.1 to 0.4 inches, with one small wetter spot in southern Louisiana.

Florida’s East Coast Is the Exception

The only real rain in the Southeast is expected along Florida’s Atlantic coast, where moisture from offshore pushes onshore:

Area Projected 7-Day Rainfall
Northeast Florida coast About 0.3 to 1.3 in
Central east Florida coast About 1.0 to 1.8 in
Southeast Florida coast About 1.2 to 3.1 in
Atlantic waters offshore 2 to 3.3+ in

The heaviest totals stay mostly over the ocean, with the coastline catching the edge of that moisture.

What Ongoing Dryness Means

A continued stretch without rain can lead to:

  • Drier soil and stressed lawns, gardens and crops
  • Higher risk of outdoor fires spreading quickly
  • Falling water levels in ponds and small streams

Residents should use caution with outdoor burning and follow any local burn restrictions.

When Could Rain Return

Forecasters say the next meaningful rain for Alabama and the Deep South will likely arrive sometime in early November. Until then, the region should expect mostly dry weather to close out the month.
