Girls basketball: Badin notches tourney win

BADIN 68, AIKEN 18

CINCINNATI — No. 2 seed Badin routed No. 15 Aiken for a Division II sectional victory on Tuesday night at Indian Hill.

The Rams (16-7) have won seven of their last eight. Aiken finished the season 10-12.

Badin advances to face Mercy McAuley on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 7 p.m. at Indian Hill.

WEST CLERMONT 59, MIDDLETOWN 40

LIBERTY TWP. — Layla Hale had a game-high 26 points and seven rebounds, and No. 5 West Clermont rolled to a Division I sectional victory over No. 26 Middletown on Tuesday night at Lakota East.

The Wolves (18-5) led 16-4 after the first quarter and 29-11 at the half. Paige Rodriguez had 13 points for West Clermont.

The Middies were led by Jamia Jones, who had 12 points. Taylor Daniels and Persha Edwards each scored nine points for Middletown (9-14). The Middies graduate seniors Lala Calhoun, Ava Lang, Ava Dalton, Daniels and Edwards.

West Clermont, which has won three in a row, moves on to face Northwest on Tuesday, Feb. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at Middletown.
