WEST CHESTER TWP. — Lakota West High School named Jay Chadwell as its girls basketball coach on Friday, pending approval by the Board of Education.
“I am pleased to announce Jay Chadwell as new Girls Head Basketball Coach of Lakota West High School,” stated Ben Brown, Principal at Lakota West High School.
“Our search included strong candidates from throughout Ohio and around the country. Coach Chadwell has proven to be a dedicated coach to each and every student-athlete. Not only is he knowledgeable and passionate about basketball, but his excellence as a school leader has earned respect from students, parents, colleagues, and community members. We welcome Coach Chadwell and his family to the Lakota West family.”
“I’m very honored to be joining the Lakota West athletic department as the new coach of the Girls Basketball Team” said Coach Chadwell. “Coach Fishman, his staff and his players have built a program that is highly respected in Southwest Ohio and at the State level, I’m excited to help continue and grow that tradition. I want to thank Mr. Kaufman, Mr. Brown and the rest of the hiring committee for this opportunity. I look forward to making all the alumni who have walked these hallways at West proud.”
Coach Chadwell comes to Lakota West with 9 years of coaching experience, with experience at both the High School and Collegiate levels. His most recent Head Coaching experience was at New Lexington High School, where he took over a struggling Program and within 2 years, led them to double digit wins and, by his 3rdseason, began a run of 3 consecutive Conference Championships and 3-time Coach of the Year. His coaching experience includes serving as an Assistant Coach at St. Ursula High School, where he coached under Jill Meiring (now the current Athletic Director at Lakota East High School). The past season, he served as an Assistant at University of Mount Union. Coach Chadwell played college basketball for Marietta College.

We accomplished exactly what I was hoping to for our kids, our basketball program and our community.”
“Coach Chadwell is a proven winner who has a specific plan to help to prepare his student-athletes for life after basketball,” Kaufman continued. “His philosophies align directly with Lakota’s emphasis on preparing our students for success once they graduate from our school. Being raised in a ‘Basketball Family’ (his father has been a long-time coach in Cincinnati for over 40 years), he has a tremendous knowledge and passion for the game of Basketball that will continue our great tradition.”
