Printed Pages Show Chat Prompts Labeled “Emergency Consultation Format”

Holding up the documents, Tara showed what appeared to be printed ChatGPT responses. The pages also seemed to include previous chat prompts with labels such as:

  • “Emergency Consultation format”
  • “Medical Spanish Interpreter”
  • “Aftercare Instruction Request”

A “Medically Complex” Patient With a Rare Genetic Disorder

Tara explained that she is “medically complex,” living with a rare genetic disorder and other conditions. Because of that, she said standard treatment plans may not work for her and could even be dangerous or life-threatening.

“Go See an Actual Doctor”

Tara said she felt it was smarter to see an actual doctor who spent years in school to make sure she was on the right course. She described the situation as “dystopian.”

Instructions Could Have Led to Bowel Perforation, She Says

In her caption, Tara said that if she had blindly followed the instructions, they likely would have led to a bowel perforation because of her medical history, genetic disorder, scar tissue and previous surgeries. She noted this was based on input from other doctors she consulted.

Follow-Up Video Explains the Risks

Tara shared another video explaining the medical risks in more detail, saying she was glad she did not follow the instructions. It remains unclear whether she plans to take legal action.

“Begging You to Speak With a Lawyer”

Many viewers were outraged and urged her to seek legal advice. One person wrote, “Begging u to speak with a lawyer.”

Nurse Says It Is “Not the Medical Standard”

A viewer who said they are a nurse was “floored” that the instructions were not even placed into a proper document, urging Tara to report it because it does not meet medical standards.

Viewers Question Paying the Bill

Another commenter said that if ChatGPT wrote the treatment plan instead of a doctor, they would refuse to pay any part of the bill, even a copay.

Claims About AI in Radiology Reports

One viewer who said they work in radiology IT claimed that many diagnostic imaging reports are now AI-generated. That claim has not been verified, but it added to the wider conversation about AI in medicine.

Growing Concerns Over AI in Healthcare

The incident has sparked concern about AI-generated medical documents, especially when they are given to patients without careful review by qualified professionals. Experts generally stress that AI tools should support, not replace, clinical judgment.

What Patients Can Do

  • Ask who wrote your discharge instructions
  • Request clarification from a doctor if anything seems off
  • Share instructions with your specialist if you have complex conditions
