Couple Allegedly Sneaks Xbox Card Onto Checkout Belt After Georgia Woman Offers to Buy Their Groceries, and the Help Ends in a Shouting Match
GEORGIA — A Georgia woman known for using her platform to buy food for people in need says a grocery run turned ugly when a family she agreed to help allegedly tried to add an Xbox gift card to the bill.
Kellie, who posts on TikTok as @kelliekelshow, regularly pays for groceries and essentials for families and homeless people and shares those moments with her followers.
How the Encounter Started
According to Kellie, she was already shopping when a family recognized her and asked for help, saying they could not afford their groceries. She agreed to cover their bill.
Then, she says, the man placed an Xbox card on the checkout belt, meant for video games, not food. Kellie started recording and decided to call it out on the spot.
“You Tried to Slide an Xbox Card on Me”
On camera, Kellie confronts the couple directly about the card. The woman responds by telling Kellie she can leave.
Kellie fires back that the couple is the one who should leave, pointing out they could not pay for their own items while she could afford anything in the store.
Cart Knocked Over in Anger
The argument heated up until the woman walked over and pushed over Kellie’s cart, which was full of groceries Kellie had picked out for people in need.
Kellie brushed it off and kept shopping, saying she did not care and was going to feed homeless children.
Couple Pays for Their Own Groceries
With Kellie no longer covering their bill, the couple put their groceries on the belt to pay for them themselves. The two sides kept yelling at each other until the couple left the store.
Viewers Rally Behind Kellie
Most commenters defended Kellie. Several said experiences like this are why they stopped helping strangers or no longer give money. One person who said they work with homeless people hinted they had heard plenty of similar stories.
Another viewer found it wild that someone would argue with the person paying for their groceries, calling it “crazy work.”
Will It Stop People From Helping
Many viewers voiced frustration that someone’s generosity could allegedly be taken advantage of. While some now question whether helping strangers is worth it, others hope the incident does not discourage people like Kellie from continuing to support those truly in need.
The couple has not been identified and has not responded publicly.
