HEBRON — The Lakota East High girls cross country team stood on the podium Saturday.
The Thunderhawks paced themselves to a second-place finish at the Division I state meet at National Trail Raceway in Hebron.
Kelsi Harris finished 25th with a time of 18:45.7, while teammates Carly Spletzer (28th, 18:49.2), Danielle Horter (38th, 19:04.0), Jocelyn Willis (40th, 19:06.4), Paxton Oberhaus (46th, 19:08.8), Hailey Wilson (73rd, 19:30.5) and Cali Reynolds (113th, 19:57.1).
Beavercreek, which placed four of the top seven runners, clinched the title ahead of East.
■ Talawanda’s Kiefer Bell placed 43rd overall in the boys Division I meet with a time of 16:10.2.
■ Lakota West’s Zachary Beneteau ran the boys Division I race in 16:43.6 for 102nd place.
■ Badin’s Owen Mathews finished the boys Division II race with a 16:29.7 for 32nd, while his sister Maura Mathews placed 25th overall in the girls Division II race with a time of 19:04.8.
