Purcell Marian, Roger Bacon to join MVC in all sports beginning of 2021-2022 season

The Miami Valley Conference will soon be comprised of 14 teams.

Current member schools of the Miami Valley Conference (MVC), which is now at 12 teams, voted on Monday, Nov. 25 to extend membership invitations in all MVC sports to Purcell Marian and Roger Bacon High Schools.

Both schools accepted the invitation on Tuesday, Nov. 26, and will begin competition in all sports in the new 14-team conference at the beginning of the 2021-2022 season.

“The Miami Valley Conference is one of the premier athletic conferences in Ohio, and the addition of Purcell and Marian and Roger Bacon will only enhance this reputation — both athletically and academically,” said Kevin Dunnette, the Miami Valley Conference’s sports information director. “The entire MVC would like to extend our congratulations to both Purcell Marian and Roger Bacon High Schools.”

Miami Valley Conference president and CHCA athletic director Eric Taylor said the MVC created a unique system in separating the conference into Scarlet and Gray Divisions to create the most competitive scenarios for all schools.

Taylor also stated that the addition of both schools will offer more options for schools to compete with similar size schools in the conference.

“Purcell Marian and Roger Bacon are well respected academic institutions with a great athletic history in Cincinnati,” Taylor said. “The MVC boasts close to 25 team state championships in the last 20 years. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome the Spartans and Cavaliers to the Miami Valley Conference.”
