MONROE — The Monroe High girls soccer team ran the regular season slate and claimed its second Southwestern Buckeye League Southwestern Division title in a row.
The Hornets, who are ranked 7th in the Division II state poll, finished the regular season at 16-0 after their 8-0 win over Eaton on Tuesday.
“I enjoy coming to practice and coaching these girls every day,” Monroe coach Stacey Williams said. “These girls are always working hard and wanting to make themselves better. They certainly know how to make a coach’s job easy.”
Alyssa Beckett (16 goals and 4 assists), Makala Woods (11 goals, 6 assists) and Amanda Fierman (9 goals, 2 assists) helped pave the way during the regular season for Monroe.
Keely Monroe and Sam Chaney only allowed 3 goals combined at the goalie position.
The Hornets take on the winner of Franklin and Ponitz on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 7 p.m. in the second round of Division II postseason play.
