MONROE — The Monroe High football team defeated Oakwood 35-14 on Friday night, giving first-year coach Bob Mullins his first win at the Hornet helm.
Collin Deaton and Tyler Tracey each scored two touchdowns for Monroe, which moved to 1-7 overall and 1-4 in the Southwestern Buckeye League.
The Hornets scored 28 unanswered points before Oakwood (1-7) got on the board in the fourth quarter. Oakwood quarterback Joe Lautterbach tossed two touchdowns — one a 50-yarder and the other a 34-yarder — to Jaiden Spahr.
Ryan Miltenberger also added a 19-yard run to close out the scoring for the Hornets, who host Madison in The Report’s Radio Network Game of the Week next Friday.
