Miami Athletics to Partner With Brand Builder Jeremy Darlow

OXFORD — Miami Athletics is excited to announce a partnership with Jeremy Darlow in an effort to help student-athletes build personal brands that will set them up to succeed in life beyond sports, while maintaining Miami’s pursuit of Graduating Champions. Miami is the first school in the nation to offer this program to all of its student athletes and is the first Group of Five program in the country to partner with Darlow.

“We’re excited to partner with Jeremy and value his knowledge and expertise in helping student-athletes understand the value in building their personal brand,” said Breanna Robinson, Assistant Athletic Director for Leadership and Diversity. “The current circumstances present great challenges, but we’re also using it as an opportunity to enhance the skill sets and leadership abilities of our student-athletes. Our collaboration with Jeremy Darlow is one aspect of student-athlete development that we’re providing within Miami Athletics, and we see it as an additional way to equip students with a competitive edge when they graduate from Miami. We also view this partnership as an opportunity to appeal to prospective student-athletes and emphasize our mission to graduate champions.”

Darlow, the two-time best-selling author of Brands Win Championships and Athletes Are Brands Too and former director of marketing for adidas football and baseball, will begin educating Miami student athletes on May 7 through weekly video lessons. This step-by-step course will help Miami student athletes build their influence, beat the odds and leverage their athletic accomplishments well beyond sports.

“Miami’s commitment to Graduating Champions, both in sports and in life, is second to none,” said Darlow. “I could not be more impressed with the University and I’m proud to call the RedHawks a partner.”

Each video lesson will cover one of Darlow’s philosophies on brand development. At the end of each video, student athletes are then given the option to complete an assignment found in their copy of Darlow’s new book: The Darlow Rules. Those homework assignments provide guidance to the student athletes on how to begin building their plan for life after sports. Each student will graduate from the course with their own personal brand marketing plan, as well as a certificate of competition to include on their professional resume.
