LIBERTY TWP. — The Lakota East High girls tennis team returns four seniors from a squad that went 7-2 in the Greater Miami Conference and 9-8 overall a season ago.
Those returning seniors are Megan Hoke, Allison Romito, Rachel Call and Ellie Leisten.
Thunderhawks third-year coach Cindy Strahan said there are some signs of youth outside of the returning veterans, but “we’ve added one sophomore and two freshmen to our roster, and we are expecting good things from them.”
Strahan noted that Hoke will be the anchor at first singles this season. Hoke and Grace Silverberg, who graduated last school year, fell to St. Ursula in districts a season ago.
“We had great runs in sectionals and early districts,” Strahan said.
Lakota East will be looking to fill the shoes of Sarah Cope and Silverberg, who finished a combined 23-4 in singles action.
Seniors Megan Bolander and Tanya Kukreja; junior Caitlyn DiFillipo; sophomore Nisso Sacha; and freshmen Natashi Kejriwal and Amisha Kejriwal give the Thunderhawks’ roster some added depth.
Lakota East takes on St. Ursula on Friday, Aug. 9.
