HAMILTON — Kevin Higgins was named Tuesday afternoon as La Salle High School’s next boys basketball coach.
Hamilton athletic director Missy Harvey posted via Twitter/X on Monday that Higgins announced he would not be coming back next season.
Higgins led the Big Blue for six seasons and to a Sweet 16 appearance this past winter. He accumulated a 70-71 overall, 43-49 Greater Miami Conference record at Hamilton.
The Big Blue went 16-10 and lost to state runner-up Centerville in a Division I regional semifinal this most recent season.
“His dedication and commitment to our athletes will be greatly missed,” Harvey said. “The Hamilton High School athletic department would like to thank him and wish him the very best in the future.”
Higgins also served as the head coach for the boys varsity teams at Aiken, Colerain and Lebanon. He has led his teams to three district titles, seven sectional title appearances and 14 tournament wins against higher seeds.
Higgins replaces Pat Goedde, who spent the last seven years as head coach at La Salle. Goedde was with the program for a total of 30 years. He compiled an 84-80 record, and the Lancers went 8-15 last year — including a 0-6 record in the Greater Catholic League South.
Harvey said the search for the next Hamilton varsity boys basketball coach will begin immediately.
