Here’s an update on our coverage-area girls soccer programs

The 2024 high school fall sports season is in full swing. Let’s take a look at how our coverage-area girls soccer programs are doing through Monday, Sept. 9:

Badin (3-2-2) — The Rams open Greater Catholic League Coed play at Carroll on Wednesday. Badin lost the first two games of the season and have gone unbeaten in five straight, including Monday’s 1-1 tie against CHCA. The Rams are without junior Braelyn Even — who recently committed to the University of Cincinnati and is recovering from an ACL injury. Seniors Gracie Cosgrove, Elizabeth Birri and Abby Mathews have two goals apiece. Junior goalie Blake Sakach has two shutouts and a GCL Coed-best 51 saves.

Cincinnati Christian (4-0-1) — The Cougars are off to their best start in over 17 years. Cincinnati Christian has had eight different players score goals this season — led by sophomore Alex Lewis (three) and freshman Isabella Minacapelli (three). Freshman Evangeline Dorr has two goals and three assists.

Hamilton (1-5) — Sophomore Jaylen Hitch leads the Big Blue with three goals, while junior Reese Thieken has a goal and two assists. Sophomore Layla Malcolm has a shutout and 46 total saves on the season.

Fairfield (4-2) — The Indians have won three in a row and are unbeaten (2-0) in Greater Miami Conference play. Freshman Ali Mangeot leads the GMC with five goals, while junior Leaha Compton has two goals and five assists.

Fenwick (4-2) — The Falcons begin GCL Coed action on Wednesday at McNicholas. Fenwick has won three in a row and is led by senior Ashley Yontz’s three goals. Junior Sienna Johnson has a goal and three assists, while senior Rozsa Yakumithis has 25 saves and a shutout at goalie.

Franklin (2-4) — The Wildcats won their first two games of the season before losing four straight. Freshman Jaycie Flynn has a team-best five goals, while senior Lily Cook has two goals and an assist. Sophomore goalie Aliyah Donisi has 45 saves.

Edgewood (2-4-1) — Senior Kate Cooper (three goals, assist) and freshman Olivia Sergent (two goals, two assists) lead the way for the Cougars. Freshman goalie Charlie Fall has 64 saves and 2.5 shutouts.  

Lakota East (1-5-1) — The Thunderhawks are led by senior Jessa Bush and sophomore Bailey Bacher, who each have three goals. Senior Randi Morgan has two goals and three assists, while senior goalie Sophia Ford has two shutouts and 24 saves.

Lakota West (4-1) — Juniors Lea Hold and Audrey Anthony, sophomore Anne Marie Wambugu and freshman Darcy Bittinger each have two goals to lead the Firebirds in scoring. Senior Kate Mallory has a shutout and 14 saves at goal.

Madison (3-2-1) — Mohawks senior goalie Addison Kelly is third in the Southwestern Buckeye League in saves (58) and shutouts (3). Sophomore Kinsley Walker leads the offense with three goals and two assists.  

Mason (4-2) — The Comets have had 12 players score at least one goal this season. Sophomore Allyson Canham (three goals, four assists) and junior Maelyn Kowalski (three goals, assist) lead the way for Mason, which finished second in the GMC a season ago.

Middletown (3-4) — The Middies have lost four out of their last five, but they have two of the top five leading scorers in the GMC. Sophomore Kennedi Cooper and freshman Kaliah Dupee have four goals apiece. Senior Reese Roark has 62 saves at goal.

Monroe (1-6) — The Hornets are led by junior Mikayla Tolbert (four goals) and senior Ella Mann (three goals, assist).  

Ross (4-2) — The Rams are led on offense by senior Caroline Chernock (seven goals, two assists) and sophomore Isabelle Davis (six goals). Also contributing for Ross is junior Avery McFarland (three goals, assist) and sophomore Caroline Davis (two goals, two assists).  

Talawanda (3-4-1) — The Brave travel to Franklin on Thursday. Talawanda is currently tied with Harrison atop the Southwest Ohio Conference standings at 1-0.
