ROSS TWP. — The Ross Athletic Department has hired a new varsity volleyball coach, Jennifer Fawns, pending Ross Board of Education approval. Fawns also currently works as an Intervention Specialist at Ross High School.
Fawns has coaching experience at various levels in both interscholastic and club volleyball, including a current position with Lineshot Volleyball Club in Blue Ash. This past fall, Fawns completed her second year at the helm with the 8th grade team at Ross.
“I am extremely excited and thankful for the opportunity to coach volleyball at Ross High School,” Fawns said. “Over the last 20 years, I have been fortunate enough to learn from and work with some of the greatest volleyball coaches and players. I look forward to encouraging our student athletes to achieve their goals, not only in the classroom, but in the gym as well and I am eager to help the program achieve new milestones.”
Fawns competed collegiately for Mt. St. Joseph University, where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in Special Education. Fawns is a graduate of Badin High School.
There will be a program-wide “Meet the Coach” night on Wednesday, March 4 at 7:00PM in the RHS Gymnasium where all Ross volleyball families can come meet Coach Fawns and hear about her vision for the future of Ross Volleyball.
“Coach Fawns fits perfectly with our education-based sports model in Ross Athletics,” Ross athletic director Jake Richards said. “She is first and foremost an educator for Ross Local Schools. And given that our volleyball court serves as an extension of our classrooms, Coach Fawns will certainly provide our student athletes with an optimal learning experience.”
