FAIRFIELD TWP. — The Cincinnati Christian Schools golf team returns three of its main clubbers from last season — all of them possessing senior leadership.
Cougars coach Dan Schmitz anticipates his squad to top its 3-12 performance from a year ago.
“I expect our team to be more competitive and improve our record this year,” said Schmitz, who is entering his second season at the helm.
“We have three returning seniors and some new young talent,” Schmitz added. “We also are young as three of our golfers have never played the sport.”
The returning seniors are Austin Whitton, Jayson Smith and Derrick Bowman. Senior Jessica Fornshell also joins the squad.
Schmitz said he’s looking for big things from Whitton, who qualified for sectionals a season ago.
Rounding out the roster is junior Devin McKinnon and freshmen Abbey Smith, Alec Jones and Alex Mullins.
Schmitz noted that Smith “might surprise some people this year.”
Cincinnati Christian tees off on Monday, Aug. 4 against Madeira at Vineyard Golf Course.
